My journey reading children’s literature began, strangely enough, after college and before motherhood.  I was an adult when I realized there were so many books that I had missed out on as a child.  So, I began a yearly tradition to read one children’s book each Christmas – just for fun.  What I realized is that children’s literature can be just as smart and engaging as anything on the best seller’s list.

What started as a nice little yearly tradition became a small shopping obsession the moment I learned that I was pregnant.  With nary a belly bump, I bypassed the clothing boutiques and headed directly to Barnes & Noble where I camped out in the children’s section.  Now, almost 10 years later, it’s no surprise that we have amassed a small library of children’s books – many of which that have been chewed and mangled and fallen asleep upon.

Our books have taken us on an amazing journey – bringing love, laughter, humanity, self confidence, and curiosity into our home.  Who am I?  I am a mother who reads to her children each and every night.  What do I know about myself?  Reading out loud with my kids is one thing I do perfectly perfect as a mother.
